The December 27, 2024, episode of AEW Rampage, pre-taped on December 22 at the Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City, marked the final edition of the show, delivering two title matches and unforgettable moments. Tony Khan addressed the live audience during the taping, announcing this would be the last Rampage taping “for the foreseeable future.” While the possibility of the show returning remains uncertain, Rampage appears to have been canceled for now.
The main event featured ROH World Champion Chris Jericho defending his title against Anthony Bowens. Jericho, who claimed the championship in October, successfully retained it in a thrilling contest. The match took a chaotic turn when Bryan Keith and Max Caster became involved in a ringside scuffle over the title belt, resulting in Keith inadvertently hitting Bowens with it. Jericho capitalized on the distraction to secure the win.
AEW Tag Team Champions Private Party, comprising Isiah Kassidy and Marq Quen, faced Alec Price and Leo Sparrow in a non-title match. The champions emerged victorious, but the action didn’t stop there. Following the match, Lio Rush and Action Andretti confronted Private Party, igniting a brawl that escalated when Top Flight joined in. The melee became so intense that AEW security had to intervene to restore order.
Thunder Rosa, the reigning Riot Cabaret Women’s Champion, took on GLCW Women’s Champion Leila Grey in another standout match. Rosa emerged victorious via submission, further cementing her dominance and extending her impressive winning streak.
Hook faced Nick Wayne in a hard-fought match that saw interference from Christian Cage, Mother Wayne, and Kip Sabian. Despite the odds, Hook triumphed with a submission victory, thanks in part to a surprise appearance by Katsuyori Shibata, who cleared the ring of the Patriarchy and allowed Hook to focus on the match.
AEW World Champion Jon Moxley issued an open challenge during the show, sparking a chaotic sequence of events. Komander and Top Flight answered initially but were quickly overwhelmed. The situation escalated as Orange Cassidy and Willow Nightingale joined the fray, igniting a brawl with the Death Riders. The chaos grew even further with the involvement of Jay White, Hangman Page, and others, culminating in an unforgettable melee to close out the show.
The final episode of AEW Rampage delivered memorable moments, intense matches, and an exciting conclusion to its run, leaving fans with plenty to discuss.
