The July 29, 2024 episode of WWE RAW will be the final episode before SummerSlam 2024, setting the stage for the upcoming event. Gunther is set to challenge World Heavyweight Champion Damian Priest at SummerSlam. However, after Gunther’s scathing comments about Priest last week led to a brawl, both men were ejected from the building. Now, Priest’s stablemate Finn Balor wants to step up and show Gunther that it’s unwise to mess with Judgment Day. A major twist in the Drew McIntyre vs. CM Punk storyline was revealed last week when Seth Rollins was announced as the special guest referee for their match. Rollins will lay down the law by presenting his referee’s instructions to both competitors tonight.
Sheamus and Bronson Reed, who faced off two weeks ago, will have a rematch this week. Xavier Woods requested a singles match against Karrion Kross after The Final Testament defeated Woods, Otis, and Akira Tozawa in a trios match due to outside interference. Additionally, Lyra Valkyria, Kayden Carter, and Katana Chance will once again try to stop Sonya Deville, Zoey Stark, and Shayna Baszler from tormenting the women’s division after failing in their previous attempt. The Creed Brothers solidified their alliance with Chad Gable last week by attacking Otis and Akira Tozawa, who will seek revenge in a tag team match this week.
Neither CM Punk nor Drew McIntyre is pleased with Seth Rollins playing a significant role in their upcoming match, especially under the stipulation set by RAW General Manager Adam Pearce that they cannot touch each other until the match. Although wrestlers often try to bypass such restrictions by targeting their opponent’s friends or family, it’s unclear if Punk and McIntyre have any allies in WWE at the moment. Regardless, Rollins is enjoying his position as special referee, as it allows him to meddle with both competitors. He’ll begin doing so tonight on RAW when he issues his official referee instructions for their match.
