The February 7 2025 episode of the WWE Smackdown will take place live from the FedEx Forum in Memphis, Tennessee. The Stamford-based promotion delivered on its promises at the Royal Rumble 2025 PLE, which featured two title matches alongside the traditional men’s and women’s Royal Rumble matches. The event also marked the beginning of the road to WrestleMania, with the next major stop being the Elimination Chamber PLE.
The buildup to the PLE has already started with the fallout show of Monday Night Raw, and the fallout show of Friday Night SmackDown will follow suit. The show will continue to build towards the Elimination Chamber PLE and address the developments from the 2025 Royal Rumble PLE, including appearances from the winners. At the Rumble PLE, ‘The American Nightmare’ Cody Rhodes faced his former friend Kevin Owens in a ladder match. Despite tough opposition from Owens, Rhodes managed to climb the ladder and capture both the Undisputed WWE title and the Winged Eagle title to win the match.
After the Rumble PLE, Jackie Redmond revealed that Cody Rhodes is dealing with multiple injuries and will not attend the post-match press conference. Redmond also stated that Rhodes’ in-ring status is uncertain. However, she clarified that the champion will appear on this week’s episode of SmackDown. Jey Uso shocked everyone by eliminating the 16-time WWE World Champion John Cena to win the men’s Royal Rumble match in Indianapolis last week. Jey appeared on this week’s episode of Raw, where he expressed his gratitude to the fans and credited his Rumble victory to their support. He proudly declared that he is headed to the main event of WrestleMania.
During the segment, World Heavyweight Champion Gunther appeared and berated Jey, warning him that if he chooses Gunther for WrestleMania, every week leading up to the event will be ‘hell.’ Jey fired back, stating that he is tired of people telling him what he can and cannot do. He announced that he would appear on SmackDown to talk to Cody Rhodes and guaranteed Gunther that whoever he chooses, he will walk out of WrestleMania as the WWE Champion. The 2025 Women’s Royal Rumble winner, Charlotte Flair, will also appear on this week’s episode of the Blue brand. Flair has not yet clarified who she will face at WrestleMania. She appeared on Raw, where Women’s World Champion Rhea Ripley pleaded with her to choose Ripley as her opponent. However, Flair is determined to explore all her options and, as announced, appeared on the February 4 episode of NXT. Charlotte will now appear on this week’s episode of SmackDown in Memphis and will likely confront Tiffany Stratton.
The Stamford-based promotion has begun building towards the Elimination Chamber 2025 PLE. On this week’s episode of Raw, two Elimination Chamber qualifying matches took place in both divisions. CM Punk defeated Sami Zayn, and Liv Morgan defeated Iyo Sky to secure their spots in their respective Chamber matches.
